3 Pre-Exhibition Group Sessions of Coaching

A$600.00

Group exhibitions are important.

The quantity of art awards and art group exhibitions is testimony to their effectiveness.

Planning and managing a group event will teach you a lot of important tools, improved visual arts management and exhibition planning.

Naturally, when you gather a bunch of clever visual artists together, there will be different opinions and ways of doing things. Things fall apart very quickly and sometimes with rancor if there are ‘too many cooks’.

So, start how you want to finish.

Each participant will receive access to the online course Exhibitions: I Want One But Where Do I Start? Tips and Tools, From the Original Idea to the Opening Event.   The course will provide a foundation on all the elements that ensure a successful exhibition.

Participants are asked to complete the video and begin work on the course booklet prior to the first group coaching session.

All participants will come together to work under Paula’s guidance to develop and execute a plan for the group exhibition.

During the three group sessions, we’ll find agreement on:

  • Wall space, lighting, installation conditions and restrictions

  • Budget

  • Project costs

  • Choosing the artworks

  • Curator fees

  • Number of works per person

  • Representative for meetings

  • Insurance requirements

  • Marketing

  • Written agreements

  • And more ….

Together we will take this important step in your Creative Vision and make the journey more collaborative.

Plan your exhibition management for a successful event from opening to closing.

  • Each participant will pay to the appointed group leader $1,100

  • Participants will receive access to the online course Exhibitions I Want One But Where Do I Start? Tips and Tools, From the Original Idea to the Opening Event for a period of 36 months.  This means you can access the content for the duration of 36 months as long as the platform exists or the course isn’t discontinued.

  • Participants will come together for 3 comprehensive, hour-long sessions tailored to your exhibiting group.

  • A group must be a minimum of three persons with a maximum of twelve persons.

  • The specified group of artists should attend all three sessions.

  • Only the original, specified artists may attend sessions. Replacements are not permitted to attend.

  • Sessions will not be repeated.  If a participant misses a session, it is their responsibility to discuss with another participant the content that was covered.

  • A single payment from the group leader only i.e., the gross payment - is to be paid in full prior to gaining access to the online course and participating in the inaugural group session.

    • i.e., If you have 5 artists attending the group mentoring, a single payment of $5,500 is to be made by the appointed leader.

    • If you have 6 artists attending, a single payment of $6,600, is to paid. And so on.

What happens in a mentoring session?

It's a confidential sounding board - a place to talk about, and get feedback on the opportunities and challenges frequently experienced by artists, arts managers, academics and entrepreneurs. The session includes:

  • Exhibition planning including deadlines, scheduling, and job allocation

  • Art selection/curatorial considerations

  • Labels and didactic panels

  • Exhibition management

  • Creating agreements for the gallery or rental property

  • Shared marketing and audience building

  • Opening and closing schedules and support

  • Artists talks and workshops

What can mentoring do to improve your arts practice?

The purpose of mentoring is to look at what's important and to figure out and prioritise actions which help refine your focus and delivery. The agenda is created by you so it might include

  • artistic considerations

  • studio practice

  • exhibitions, pop-ups, awards, grants

  • arts management

  • commercial ambitions

  • marketing .

What will I learn that I don't know already?

I provide an outside perspective and support for your artistic vision and aims.

I am committed to giving friendly, unbiased feedback. This includes being honest and constructive, including revealing my own experiences (both successes and failures) in the Creative Industries, small business, project management, curatorial, education and media.

Terms and Conditions

The first session will commence when each participating artist has paid the full fee. No reimbursement for lack of attendance.

*Conditions apply; all session must be completed within a 5 month period from date of purchase.
